IMS B70 Competition baskets

B70 is IMS’s 58mm competition line and by far its largest — four ridged M-pattern doubles, five convex doubles, five NanoQuartz-coated doubles and four singles. Every one shares the same Ø70mm border and Ø60mm body, so within the series the only real choice is height, which is to say dose.

The three diameters

Every basket in this series shares them. They are quoted from the manufacturer pages cited on the individual entries below, not hand-entered here.

MeasurementFigureWhat it decides
Border Ø70 mmWhether the basket seats in the portafilter
Body Ø60 mmWhether it drops in at all
Tamper Ø58/58.4 mmWhich tamper you need

If those three numbers being different is a surprise, that is the single most useful thing to understand about basket fitment — see why “58mm” isn’t one standard.

Dose figures vary by roast level and are published per basket rather than per series, so they live on the individual entries — each one quotes the manufacturer’s own capacity table with the date it was read.

Machines this series fits (21)

Cross-references follow the manufacturer’s own compatibility list rather than size logic, so a machine of the right diameter is not listed unless the source names it. Sizes covered: 58mm.
