The shower screen (dispersion screen) mounts in the grouphead and spreads the water arriving from the boiler across the whole puck instead of drilling it in one spot — even dispersion is the difference between a balanced shot and a channelled, sour one. It also collects grounds and scale, so it is a routine cleaning-and-replacement part: a clogged or warped screen is a common cause of uneven extraction and slow flow on a well-used machine.
Because a shower screen seats in the group, not the portafilter, it is keyed to the grouphead — here Breville’s 54mm group — rather than to a portafilter standard, which is why it is cross-referenced by machine and not listed on the 54mm size hub. Breville’s page states only “selected Breville Espresso Machines”; all of Breville’s 54mm home machines (the Barista Express, Pro and Touch families, the Bambino line, Duo Temp Pro and Infuser) share that group, so the screen is cross-referenced to them. It does not fit Breville’s 58mm machines, which use a different group. Verified against Breville’s official part page on 2026-07-13.
